Check out the Official Historical Blog of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard on the 150th anniversary of the sinking of the USS Monitor. BTW, it has been pointed out to me that my title is a bit misleading–the Monitor sank in a storm but did fight in a historic sea battle with the CSS Virginia on March 9th, in what is called the battle of the Ironclads. The following article is full of information like that, not just about the sinking. 🙂
