Okay, we’ve been a little caught up in helping our four-legged daughters get their off-track land legs the past few days. We haven’t been in a total bubble. So for those of you who may want to see some information on the Costa Concordia grounding and sinking tragedy, gCaptain has a tag link to all the articles he’s posted about the event. I was surfing the page and a pop up link from Carnival, the parent company, directed me to their official statement.

I have an aunt who is a travel agent and she posted a link on FB to Carnival’s FB page about cruising is still safe. They refer to an internet article on Ship Safety. So don’t cancel your upcoming cruise. There is a great deal of information and misinformation about these events that will never be fully known, as is the case with all tragedies and modern news reporting. (For example, if you want to learn something new about the Valdez, read The Captain’s a Woman. Capt. Dempsey gives her thoughts from an industry (i.e., a mariner’s) point of view that very little of the public will ever know.)

  1. It sounds very much as if this particular incident was the captain’s fault.

    • The more I read, the more I come to the same conclusion. Tragedy all around.
